The Date

A Short Film by Emmalie El Fadli and Hansof Waller

Books

"Your leads had fantastic chemistry and they were both such a joy to watch. So so beautifully shot. I absolutely loved it! To be able to tell a simple simple story in a totally relatable unique and entertaining light is in my opinion the hardest part about making a short and you did it wonderfully!!"

- Lily Richards

"What a beautiful film on all fronts. The production values are spot on but for me it is the two actresses that absolutely sail. They are so natural, it almost feels like a fly on the wall doc. Amazing chemistry that makes your dialogue float without a single jarr. I grinned at my screen for the duration."

- Rob (Time to Go)

STORYLINE

Lizzy and Olivia might be total opposites when it comes to careers and dress sense, BUT they do have one thing in common... they both swiped 'right' on each other.

After swiping right, the two hit it off almost immediately but there’s still one thing left to do…meet.

WHY THIS FILM IS IMPORTANT

'The Date' will be one of the most uplifting lesbian films you’ll see in a while. We're tired of seeing our characters killed off or left unhappy and unfulfilled. We deserve better. So we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands and create a story that inspires people.

Having grown up with "Buffy" where Tara dies, "Lost and Delirious" where Paulie dies, "Loving Annabelle" where the teacher ends up in prison, "Imagine Me and You" where Rachel can't figure her shit out, "Bloomington" where Catherine (teacher) has to get with a man to make Jackie jealous (the list seriously goes on and on) we realised that if we weren't going to make the change we needed, no one else would.

We want to make a difference in how LGBTQ relationships are portrayed in the media and we want to see happier storylines that we can actually relate to. Hopefully, we can educate and inspire both younger and older generations and show them that positive, healthy relationships happen in our community every day.
